c-barnes: Over the next few days I will try to upload a few items from the semester that I didn’t have time to put up. Once I get my hands on a working digital camera or scanner I will try and put my Color theory paintings on.

I got a birthday check last month
And I went to deposit it on the third, but the bank was closed when I got there. But I had already written “12-3-10” on the deposit slip. So I decided to wait until the thirteenth and just add a one in front of the three.

Black Swan
I literally knew nothing about this movie, except that Natalie Portman was in it, and she played a ballerina. My sister says, “I just watched the trailer for Black Swan and it reminded me of ‘I Can’t Be Tamed.’  LOL.” And I’m like, “LOL why?” “…because she transforms into a bird demon?” what

I am wearing cologne today
And I keep smelling it and thinking, “What’s that smell?” And then I remember, “Oh yeah, it’s me.”

THE MOST PRETENTIOUS ALBUM OF THE YEAR AWARDS: PT....
Fourth entrant: The Suburbs Artist: Arcade Fire / “Indie Rock Gods.”  ”Geniuses.”  ”Canadians.”  These are all words used to describe Arcade Fire.  I’ve already written a review of this album, so I won’t go into that again.  I will say this: I love Funeral.  I mean, who doesn’t?  I also liked “Keep the Car Running” off Neon...

THE MOST PRETENTIOUS ALBUM OF THE YEAR AWARDS: PT....
Third entrant: The Age of Adz Artist: Sufjan Stevens / Sufjan.  The man of my dreams.  He became known for his tender, nerdy folk stylings with Illinoise, part of a project to record one album about each of the 50 United States.  He only finished two.  Anyway, now he makes electronica, loosely based on a nineties folk artist named Royal Robertson.  Probably pretty pretentious?  Let’s...

Calling it, right now:
The new Spider-Man movie will be called The Amazing Spider-Man. Also: I know thousands of people have laughed at this already, probably, but Marc Webb?  As in, spider web?  Seriously?  LOL

Well
I finished my essay about an hour ago and now I don’t know what to do with myself. And my sister’s just woken up for school. I’ve been wearing these sunglasses that are in my room because the air from my little heating fan agitates my eyes but also I think I look really good in them.

This just dawned on me today
In the assignment sheet for my American Literature II essay, it states: “You should cite at least three academically reputable sources in addition to the text itself, which you should quote from to support your points” (I added the emphasis). I read this to mean that I’m supposed to find evidence that supports my claim.  That’s a reasonable interpretation, right?  And...

Julian Assange for The Australian: The Truth Will... →
kateoplis: In 1958 a young Rupert Murdoch, then owner and editor of Adelaide’s The News, wrote: “In the race between secrecy and truth, it seems inevitable that truth will always win.” His observation perhaps reflected his father Keith Murdoch’s expose that Australian troops were being needlessly sacrificed by incompetent British commanders on the shores of Gallipoli. The British tried to shut...

One last gasp of procrastination
I have a paper due on Thursday, and my professor specifically said, “Don’t wait until the last day to write this, because it will be obvious that you did,” to which I would like to reply, “So what?” and “No, it probably won’t,” and, also, “Challenge accepted.” I’d rather write a paper at the point when I’m actually motivated...

2011 Albums!
Stereogum just posted a list of 50 anticipated albums from the coming year.  It’s worth a read, if you’re the kind of person who likes to be impatient. Here are the ones that stood out to me.  Most of them don’t have a firm release date yet, you know how it goes, but we can still get excited, right? The Cars The Decemberists Dr. Dre Fleet Foxes Iron & Wine Lady Gaga ...
